A suspect has been arrested in connection with an assault in Ocean Beach last year that led to the victim’s death.
Andrew Phillip Restrepo, 36, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on Fifth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter on suspicion of fatally beating 35-year-old Sean Glenn on May 10, 2023, according to San Diego police.
Shortly before 11 p.m. that day, Restrepo allegedly walked up to Glenn on Newport Avenue near Bacon Street and punched him, knocking him unconscious, Lt. Lou Maggi said.
Glenn remained hospitalized until his death on Aug. 5, 2023, according to police. Officials haven’t disclosed a suspected motive for the alleged assault.
Investigators suspect that Restrepo is also responsible for a similar attack — one that occurred on a city bus in the Midway area during the same month in which Glenn was fatally injured, Maggi said.
Restrepo was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of murder and assault.
