Firefighters have fully contained a 863-acre fire that broke out in rural northeastern San Diego County four days ago, sparked by lightning, a fire official said Sunday.
The Grove fire, which ignited at about 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Sunshine Summit area north of Oak Grove and east of Palomar Mountain, was 100 percent contained as of Sunday night, reported Cal Fire.
“Crews are focusing on mop up and patrol. Acreage is the same, with minimal activity. There is no active flame,” said Cal Fire Capt. Tom Piranio. All evacuation notices were lifted, Piranio said.
A total of 171 personnel, three engines, two water tenders and four fire crews worked Sunday to finish putting out the fire, Cal Fire said.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries Wednesday. One additional firefighter also suffered a minor heat-related injury, officials said.
